Holy Week

The first week back from Spring Break has been productive.

English
  • We've completed 19 of our speeches.
  • We should be finishing off AR tests in order to obtain at least 23 points by April 12.

  • We've read from the Bible - Exodus 12-17.
  • We've discussed the significance of the Holy Triduum and the relationship between the story of the Exodus and Christ.

  • We've been working through the Middle Ages unit, reading from the text and answering questions.  Next class, we'll be looking at the questions from p. 56, 59 (or chart), 65 (2b, 4a, 4b), and 67 (1, 2, 3b, 3c, 4).

We worked in our Jacob groups, making sure we had all the notes for Jacob. We looked at the questions for the test. Next class: watching another Jacob video to reinforce the material.

We chose the best samples of Cornell Notes for the Ming Dynasty and each received a copy. After that, we got a set of questions and got into groups for preparing answers to 3 questions.  We'll finish that off next day then get into our letter groups to share information.

First week back

English

We've started lit circles.  Students have chosen from The Outsiders, Forbidden City, and Throwaway Daughter.  Groups have made their reading calendars and have different roles/preparation for their lit circles.

CE

We are working on Jacob now.  We started by watching a Jacob video then got into groups to brainstorm what we know then read from Genesis and add to our notes.

SS

We are working on 3 more dynasties of China (from Chapter 13 in the textbook): Song, Yuan, and Ming.  We started by dividing the section on the Song Dynasty into 4 parts and creating Cornell notes.  Groups then got together to make master notes for their section.  These will be photocopied and distributed to the class.  The next task is to read the section on the Yuan (Mongol) dynasty (414-418) and complete questions 1-3 on page 418.

Homework:

For Monday - Finish the reading and questions for SS.
For Tuesday - Complete the reading and lit circle preparation for your group.
